Mater Dei Freshman football team will forfeit to Servite this week.

The reason is that MD does not have enough healthy players.

Servite Freshmen will remain undefeated.

When The Stache was there, MD had (2) Full freshmen teams.

Looks like the program will be trending down now

It’s a shocker that Mater Dei’s freshman football team forfeited its game this week against Servite because Mater Dei does not have enough healthy players to safely field a freshman team. For many years Mater Dei had enough freshman football players to have two freshman teams. Maybe with the coaching change during the spring, from Frank McManus to Raul Lara, that made the parents of last spring’s eighth-grade football-minded students unsure about Mater Dei. …

Still, it is strange that Mater Dei, the No. 1 football team in the nation, has a shortage of freshmen football players. What this means is that for Mater Dei to maintain its standard the young players there must soon develop into stars by their sophomore and junior years, or next summer the program needs a large influx of talented incoming freshmen, or the high school football transfer portal is going to lead many very good players to Mater Dei. …

Elite HSFB has never been more about the xfer portal. MD will be fine in this respect long-term.

Fryer has no clue what's going on with MDs freshmen. Everyone's freshmen numbers are down, though some schools numbers are either up or fine. The key Freshmen are on JV, knew they'd have issues with the FR - Not trending down. It has to do more with the late transition from McManus to Lara.  Next year will be different, will be back to normal.

100%. Despite the optics, most people have no idea what the reality is.
